Grant County Recycling Information

Recycling Program Changes

The recycling program throughout Grant County will transition from single-stream recycling to recycling cardboard only. As of July 1, 2019, cardboard only will be accepted at the recycling collection bins at the Grant County Transfer Stations in Mimbres, Cliff/Gila and Tri-City. The Bins located at the Aldo Leopold School Back Lot, Bealls parking lot, Tyrone and Pinos Altos will convert to cardboard only.

Aluminum and tin can be recycled at the Silver City Main landfill. If you have any question regarding this change you can call 575-388-8051.

You can recycle:
  • Corrugated Cardboard (boxes flattened)
    • Waxy cardboard is not accepted
    • Pizza Boxes, Cereal Boxes, 12 Pack Soda Boxes, and other similar paperboard materials are not accepted.
  • Aluminum and tin cans

Corrugated Cardboard Only Drop Offs:
  • Aldo Leopold School Back Lot (1422 Highway 180 E) [Monday - Friday Only]
  • Beall's Parking Lot (2150 Highway 180 E) [Monday - Friday Only]
  • Tyrone
  • Pinos Altos behind the Buckhorn
  • Bayard City Maintenance Yard
  • Tri-City landfill
  • Mimbres Transfer Station
  • Gila Transfer Station
Corrugated Cardboard plus Aluminum and Tin Can Drop Off:
  • Main Landfill 318 Ridge Road
The decorated roll-off containers were painted by kids at various schools around Grant County several years ago. The openings are small to discourage people from putting bags of trash in the bins.

For questions or problems call 388-8051.
